Home Remedies For Eczema That Really Works

By Ashlyn Baul at 2010-12-21 05:10:20
Eczema, which is also called dermatitis, is a family of skin disorders that include allergic contact dermatitis, atopic eczema, infantile seborrhoeic eczema, irritant contact dermatitis, varicose eczema, adult seborrhoeic eczema, and discoid eczema. A natural home remedy effective in controlling eczema is spearmint leaf juice. Grind spearmint in a mortar and pestle to make a paste. You can then apply this paste directly to the affected skin or the paste can be diluted with water. Coconut oil is also used in treating eczema.

Eczema is an allergic skin reaction. It generally results as an inflammation of the epidermis, or top layer of skin. In fact there are many types of eczema that can affect people from infancy through old age. Eczema is generally characterized by flaky, itchy, dry skin. It is not uncommon for blisters and lesions to appear. The result is a prickly heat that is irritating and causes extreme itching, stinging and burning.

Coconut Oil works well on the scalp or the body to nourish your skin and help reduce the irritation of eczema. Coconut oil has natural antibacterial and antifungal properties and has many additional health benefits that you can absorb through your skin. The virgin, unrefined coconut oil smells delicious and contains the highest levels of healing properties.

Eczema can be caused from harsh and cold climates, therefore treating yourself and your skin to a moderate amount of sun exposure will help alleviate the symptoms. This helps to destroy many of the harmful bacteria that can cause flushing and help it to spread. However, avoid overexposure to the sun, because it could lead to skin cancer.

Another one of the home remedies for eczema is to use blueberry extract. Blueberry extract is in a few type of lotions. This remedy will help you with inflammation. And it will help you keep your skin from itching. You can get this remedy from your local store. Be sure to apply some of this to your skin every day.

Regular application of paste of certain vegetables and fruits effectively reduce the itching, kill germs and also dry wound. These vegetables and fruits include raw beans, pumpkin, cranberry, finger millet juice, paste or slice of potatoes and plain cabbage leaf.

Dry skin is naturally itchy and will cause your eczema to become irritated. Before using moisturizer check the ingredients and make sure there are no added chemicals or alcohol. Both of these will cause further irritation. Remember to stay hydrated as well. Try to drink close to eight glasses of water a day. This will keep your skin healthy and better prepared to fight off your eczema.

If your skin is dry, itching and irritating, you owe it to yourself to find home remedies for eczema that work, but conventional medicines prescribed by doctors may not work which is why you should consider natural eczema remedies.

Such home remedies, such as vitamin E and extra virgin olive oil work excellent in treating eczema. They help to bring back moisture in the skin, reliving you of the dry, cracked (and sometimes bleeding) skin that comes with eczema. They are also effective in soothing eczema, which helps the constant itching that is associated with the skin disease.
