Stress is an irksome part of our existence. Everyone faces stress, almost every day. Stress prevails everywhere. If you are at your home, you may experience stress for not being able to decide the simple menu for the breakfast. Workplace is a stressful place, almost every time you need to interact with different stressors.
When it comes to stress relief a lot of people turn to therapy or relaxation techniques to deal with stress. This is a very popular form of stress relief because in most cases it provides fast results and allows the person to calm down and reflect. Remember that stress will never totally disappear because no matter what, stress in going to occur whether you try to stop it or not, it is a natural part of life.
Unhealthy ways of dealing with stress include the following. Caffeine is not going to do much good in your body and many people find pleasure from the black drink which is highly addictive. Although it will not cause very severe consequences, it will just have you flock the coffee house just to satisfy your craving but not to treat your stress symptoms.
Some of the typical examples of wrong ways to deal with stress are:
- Excessive alcohol consumption
- Excessive smoking, eating or even shopping (or overspending)
- Use of illicit drugs
Breath is directly linked to our mind. Our breathing pattern changes according to the thoughts and emotions present at the moment. For example, when you are holding on to something or cannot let go of something, you invariably hold your breath and find it difficult to exhale fully. On other hand, when you are calm and relaxed, your breath also follows a slow, deep, relaxed pattern.
Diminished sexual interest. This is because you are just too tired, feel depressed, or just don't have the drive. You may experience many other problems not mentioned above. It is imperative you pay attention to your body and take action. It is a fact of life that stress cannot be avoided. It affects our bodies and it affects how we relate to others.
Another way of how to deal with stress, and the most important one, is working on your perspective about life and making it better. Your perspective represents the way you see everything that happens to you, and how you react to different happenings or events. This determines if you are stressed out or relaxed and happy.
Emotional eating and stress are like a chicken and an egg. When you get stressed out certain normal body chemicals are either released more in your body or released less in your body causing you to crave certain foods (like sugar and carbs). Now when you eat poorly you can also cause some of these chemicals to also be lessened, which also can lead to stress and dulling of your senses.
Avoiding people and situations again fails to address the root cause of stressful illnesses because no matter what the events and circumstances are, they cannot by themselves be at the root of stress, anxiety or depression.
